Grow Union Jobs Locally
Supporting local hiring and union job growth in every community, every day. Together, we build stronger neighborhoods and economies.
Why Local Union Jobs Matter
Union jobs provide families with living wages, healthcare benefits, and retirement security. They also offer apprenticeships and career pathways that give local residents the skills needed to succeed in today’s economy. By prioritizing local hiring on public and private projects, we ensure that taxpayer dollars stay in the community, small businesses benefit, and neighborhoods grow stronger.
Union careers reduce income inequality, create stability for working families, and build a workforce that reflects the diversity of Los Angeles and Orange Counties. On average, union construction workers earn about 15–20% more than their non-union counterparts, with stronger benefits and safer worksites.

Partnering to Bring Local Workers to Local Jobs
Through Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) and Community Workforce Agreements (CWAs), we ensure that local residents are hired for union projects. The LA/OC Building Trades work closely with elected officials, public agencies, and developers to make these agreements a reality, connecting skilled workers with opportunities in their own neighborhoods.
PLAs and CWAs prioritize economic inclusion, create pathways into union apprenticeship, and ensure taxpayer investments directly benefit local communities. By partnering with us, cities and counties can expand access to family-sustaining careers, strengthen the local workforce, and keep job opportunities rooted where they belong—close to home.
